Ft Bridger Rendezvous

The Fort Bridger Rendezvous is a mountain man rendezvous in celebration of the Fur Trade Rendezvous Era that occurred in the Rocky Mountains between 1825-1840. It is one of the largest mountain man gatherings in the nation.

Held annually the first weekend of September at Fort Bridger Wyoming, this Mountain Man Rendezvous is an experience your family will be sure to remember for years. Come and experience historic Fort Bridger at its best! (from their website)

Ft Bridger itself is an historic site - a key stop along the emigrant trail. Visit the Legends of America Ft Bridger site to learn more about this unique and very interesting area http://www.legendsofamerica.com/wy-fortbridger.html

Located in southwest Wyoming, Ft. Bridger is only  a few hours from some of the best scenery and National Parks in North America.  It is a superb place for a rendezvous or knap-in or a summer vacation!  Using Ft Bridger as a base one could easily visit the following:

Yellowstone Park 5-1/2 hours north

Jackson Hole, WY - 3-3/4 hours north

Dinosaur Land, Vernal, Utah 2-1/3 hours south

Rock Mountain National Park, Estes, CO, 6-1/2 hours south

Flaming Gorge National Recreation area - 1 hour SE

Salt Lake City, UT - 2 hours west

And many other places of interest including dozens of western history museums in Wyoming

I recently had the opportunity and distinct pleasure to visit the 2012 Ft Bridger rendezvous in Ft Bridger, Wyoming - what a treat.  While my primary goal was to spend some time knapping with my friends and fellow knappers from Utah, there was so much to see that I ended up splitting my time between knapping and sight-seeing!  Here are some photos of the event:
