The Wildhorse Knap-In - Dates TBD
The 2022 Wildhorse Knap-in will be a gathering of flintknappers from Western Canadian
provinces and Northwestern U. S. states. Participants range from experts to beginners and all are welcome.
Newcomers are welcome to come and take the hands-on plunge into flintknapping.
There are plenty of teachers and plenty of tools available.
Location:
The knap-in is held at Western Wilderness Camping Resort west of the town of Nordegg in the breathtaking Alberta Rockies.
Approaching the Camping Resort from the east on highway 11, it is 66 Miles / 106 km from Rocky Mountain House. Approaching from the west on Highway 11
it is 41 miles / 65 km from the Saskatchewan Crossing at the intersection of Highway 93 and Highway 11 to the Camping Resort.
You will see a blaze orange arrowhead sign pointing to the entrance of the Camping Resort.
What the Camping Resort Offers:
There is ample parking space for trailers, campers and tents and there are rustic,
cozy cabins available for those who wish to travel light. Prices for camping and cabins are as follows:
Tent / trailer / camper - $20 / unit plus Gst
3 standard cabins, sleeps 2 - $60 / night each plus Gst
2 bunkhouse cabins, sleep 12 in each - $25 / night / person plus Gst
1 deluxe cabin, sleeps 2 - $80 / night plus Gst
1 family cabin, sleeps 5 - $100 / night plus Gst
1 deluxe family cabin, sleeps 8 - $140 / night plus Gst
1 secluded cabin, sleeps 2 - $80 / night plus gst

This year, campground owner, William Baker, plans to set up a concession for food and drinks in the
cookhouse, with breakfast, lunch and dinner menus. There will also be opportunity for local vendors to set up at the knap-in to
attract additional public participation. The more, the merrier!
Saturday Night Pot Luck and Auction:
Everyone pitches in on the potluck dinner. The host provides
the meat dish and everyone else brings a side dish or a dessert. Following the potluck
dinner there will be a live auction. Everyone is expected to bring an item to donate for the auction.
Proceeds will go the host to reimburse him for time and expenses in setting up the event.
Campfires:
Each night there will be a campfire so everyone is invited to bring a guitar
or your favorite instrument. Donn Paris and Winston Cazes, both musical encyclopedias, will lead in sing-alongs
and Russ Thornberry will add a few of his goofy songs just for laughs. By popular demand, George Bryce will be
doing some specials on his unique instrument: a didgeridoo! No joke!

Note – A passport is required to enter Canada and return to the U.S. Enhanced Driver's License (EDL) indicate both citizenship and identity and are valid for entry into Canada by land or sea, though not valid for international air travel. As of January 2009, these licenses are only available in Washington and New York.
