2019 Washington Outdoor Women (WOW) Knapping Workshop Report The Puget Sound Knappers had the distinct pleasure of hosting 20 members of WOW - Washington Outdoor Women for a Knapping workshop. Organized by PSK member Jim Miller and WOW Director Jen Syrowitz, this day-long event was co-hosted by PSK member Jim Keffer at his shop in Sammamish, WA. Following introduction by WOW Director Jen Syrowitz And PSK member Jim Keffer, Jim Miller provided an historical over view of flintknapping followed by a short course in "Knappable Rock". Jim Keffer followed with a discussion on Knapping Safety, Ethics, Tools and Process. Jim Miller ended the lecture part of the day with a discussion of knapping theory and techniques. Following a brief break the WOW participants and PSK instructors broke up into groups of 1 instructor to two participant students for some demonstrations and hands-on training! Al of the PSK Instructor were amazed at the motivation, work ethic and particularly the enthusiasm of the WOW participant. There is not much more rewarding that shareing your love for knapping with people who are genuinely interested and excited to learn. PSK Instructors
