Mormon Funeral Potatoes

Mormon Funeral Potatoes are a staple dish at many Mormon funerals over generations - hence the name.  There are so many variations that no one person can be considered the originator.

Ingredients

2  14-16 oz pkgs. of frozen hash browns
16 oz sour cream
2 cups grated cheddar cheese
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 can cream of mushroom soup ( you can use cream of broccoli)
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 -1 cup bread crumbs

Directions

Grease 9x13 pan  (my pan was slightly bigger)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Combine all ingredients in large bowl except for bread crumbs
Spread into 9 x 13 pan and top with bread crumbs
Bake 1 hour
